Belated Happy Christmas

Belated Happy Christmas everyone.  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas celebration and were able to see a lot of family and friends.  Keith and I ended up driving all the way to Cooperstown, NY to visit his family.  We had a wonderful time cooking, eating, drinking, and just being together.  Oh, and if [...]

Onion Soup with Brie + Leftovers

Okay, so Leslie usually does the recipes, but I’ll take a whack at this one.  This is a perfect soup for a cold winter night when you don’t want to cook but you want warm comfort food.  Because it’s so quick to make, it’s also great for when guests come over.

Chili Braised Yellow Perch

In the Philippines we ate seafood several times a week.  My grandfather’s favorite dish to make was called “Jumping Salad”.  It was fresh shrimp (still jumping around) with oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper.  I thought that was gross but then again my brother and I would fight over who would get to eat the [...]

Grape Syrup Snowballs

Candlelight Shopping Trip

As far as I could tell, Mineral Point’s Candlelight Shopping Night was a big success this year.   Keith and I met up with friends and strolled through most of the shops in Mineral Point.  The weather was perfect (except for a dash of Wisconsin winter) and plenty of people were out enjoying themselves.  Our [...]

Gift Ideas & Candlelight Shopping in Mineral Point

It’s 30 degrees out and there’s a light dusting of snow all around.  People have decorated their houses with colorful fairy lights. The stores are packed with shoppers trying to find that perfect gift.  Which reminds me, I have not done anything to get into the holiday mood.  Tonight  is going to be a special [...]

Thanksgiving Dinner

Sorry for the big gap in posts everyone.  I just woke up from a food-induced coma.  Keith and I visited our family down in Illinois for Thanksgiving.  Everyone contributed to the meal.  I made a couple of desserts, a traditional pumpkin pie and some coconut milk keylime bars.  Grandma made some concoction of sticky rice, [...]
