Hello everyone. If you’re looking to do something local, tasty, and fun this weekend then you should attend the 8th Annual Kickapoo Country Fair at Organic Valley in La Farge, WI. Keith and I will be there for the first time this weekend. We are excited about participating in the DIY Artisan Ice Cream & Tasting class, enjoying some music, and getting a chance to meet Will Allen and Andrew Zimmern. If you’ve got kids, there are many activities planned for them. Here is the schedule of events.

So I bet you are pretty excited by now. Keith and I have 5 pairs of tickets (that’s 10 total) for our readers to win. All you have to do is post a comment about your favorite thing/favorite activity in the summertime. Me, I love to eat ice cream, even for breakfast! We will use a random number generator to pick the winners. If you’re a winner then your name will be put on a list which they will have at the ticket booth. You will get to enjoy a fantastic event in a gorgeous setting. We will announce the winners this Friday morning. Good luck!

I love making sweet tea–the heat of boiling it up, and then the wonderful, cool, sweet relief you get from drinking it.
In the summertime (when the livins easy) I like to wear warm sweaters and wool socks while lounging on a bear skin rugs in front of a crackling fire. Joke. When it’s hot summer please put me in the water so I can splash around like a dolphin. Any water will do- unless it’s murky scary lake water where there could be angry fish lurking in the darkness just waiting for my toes to bite. Yipe! I love to swim in Lake Michigan as it turns out. Chilly but crystal clear and not an angry fish in sight. Tea party anyone?
My favorite summer activity is berry picking. And then making ice cream with said berries!!
I know this is strange but I love a good work session in the garden or yard and then cooling down sitting under the shade tree with some Lemon Ice Tea.
Thanks for sending me here. In summer, I love the Farmers’ Markets. Cameron Park on Fridays, Saturday is the market next to the county building, Sundays…Onalaska Festival parking lot. Monday is a day off. Tuesday is La Crescent, Wednesday is North side Shopko, Thursday is the Hmong Mutual Association Parking lot. I buy just enough for one day (two at the max). That way I cook as fresh as possible!
Now that my kids are grown and I am still young (43), it is mama’s time. This is the first year that I have really been blessed with many new and some I have not done in years/since I was a child adventures.
I would have to say being out in nature/seeing God’s gifts. Whether it be on a “Sunday drive” per se, on pontoon boat, canoe, kayak, or walking through a park, riverside, in the country, or fishing at a pond.
Feeling the breeze on your face, the warm sun and cold water if you are near water, fresh rain on your face. Listening to birds, frogs, crickets, seeing the stars, sunsets, sunrises, watching the clouds go by, blue skies, thunder, lightening, kids playing, parents enjoying their children, picnics, taking pictures of things interesting to you and posting them online for others to see and enjoy.
Enjoying the peace and serenity that this world has to offer us. We just need to stop and listen and see it. WE make our lives too busy to enjoy God’s beautiful blessings that he bestows on us.
I love the water in the summertime so my favorite activity is to go canoeing on the Wisconsin River. To be honest anything with the outdoors is for me!!!!
