Kickapoo Country Fair, 2012

It’s that time of the year again.  On Saturday June 28th, La Farge, WI will host the Kickapoo Country Fair, which is Organic Valley‘s organic food festival.  We went to the fair last year and had a blast.  And, just like the last few years, Organic Valley has given us some free tickets and goodies to give away.

Unrelated Ducks.

So we’re giving away four free tickets to the fair, along with $50 in coupons for Organic Valley products.  Now, what should I make you do…how about: to enter the drawing, comment on this article with your favorite fair memory (county fair, state fair, World’s Fair, etc).  Winner will be drawn at random Sunday night at 9:00 PM.

Giveaways rarely interest me, but this one is great! My favorite fair memory is from when I was a little kid and my grandma let us stay late at the Green County Fair. My brother and I thought we were pretty cool, hanging out with all the teenagers :)

My favorite fair memory is that I never went to a fair until the Kickapoo Country Fair. I would love to go again. It’s been a few years.

I used to show cattle at the Lafayette County Fair. Showmanship class is judged on how well you show your calf.
The judge had lined up exhibitors from first to worst the same direction all morning. In our class he lined us up opposite, so it appeared that I was second to last, and my long-time nemesis was worst. I had never beaten her before.
I stayed steady in my showing, but she showed her displeasure at being last. The judge reversed the two of us, and I received the trophy as champion showman.

My Grandparents would give us 4 childs $10 to spend on whatever we wanted. Would go on the rides, play games and get a funnel cake. Then we would have lunch together at the Rotary stand my father worked at and get some cheeseburgers and fries. Then go see the tractor pull. Go see all the live stock and the 4H building to see all te crafts we made. Then end the day with a cream puff. The best times.
